Pink Monkey is my true love. A band born out of a need to reconnect with my artist self after moving to Chicago and getting stuck in the everyday stress of the corporate world.
For as long as I can remember I always wrote odd melodies and loved improvising in a more aggressive and raucous manner. After forming and playing jazz standards for residencies at the now closed Blue Stem Martini Bar in Chicago the band started composing. My melodies and “odd” ideas started finding a home for the first time. I wanted to play jazz that’s not just listened to with a smug sense of self worth and over analyzed by a limited audience.
